I opened my own law practice on July 9, 2007. I left the law firm of Roy, Larsen, Romm & Lascara, P.C., where I started my legal career and had been with since 1986. I felt it was time to "fly solo" and have a practice that is an expression of who I am and what I am about.
I moved into a 2,000 square foot office condominium at the Battlefield Commons in the Battlefield Commerce Center. The location is behind the Home Depot at the corner of North Battlefield Boulevard and Volvo Parkway.
I continue to practice in the same areas of real estate, both residential and commercial, contracts, corporate and business law, wills, trusts and estates and elder law. The transition was very smooth, and I am blessed with a very supportive staff.
Karen (KC) R. Carnegie obtained her law degree from the University of Richmond in May 2008 and was admitted to the Virginia State Bar the following October. KC was not a new addition to my team, as she had worked with me as a paralegal since 2004. KC works in the same areas of law as myself, but has also taken on landlord-tenant law, civil litigation and guardianship and/or conservatorship petitions. KC serves as a Guardian Ad Litem for incapacitated adults and has expanded our business law practice by successfully guiding non-stock organizations through the complicated 501C3 application process with the IRS and helping clients obtain ABC licensing.
Another lawyer, James Short , who also was with my old firm, will be starting his new practice and he will be leasing space in my office. Jim's areas of practice are a great compliment to mine. He practices in areas of: "family law, civil litigation, traffic, dui, criminal, child custody, divorce, social security disability and guardianship.
